This Cookie & GDPR Notice explains how Bow Tie Kreative ("we", "our") uses cookies, similar technologies, and the personal data we collect when you visit www.bowtiekreative.com. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Cookies allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size, and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don't have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. Similar technologies include local storage, web beacons, and pixels — these are also covered by this notice.
2. Cookies We Use
We group cookies into four standard categories:
- Strictly Necessary — required for the site to function (e.g., remembering your cookie consent choice, securing form submissions, maintaining session state). These cannot be disabled.
- Functional — remember your preferences (e.g., dismissed banners, expanded FAQs) to make the experience smoother on return visits.
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors interact with the site, which pages convert, and which features are useful. We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) and PostHog for this purpose. IP addresses are anonymized; we do not sell or share this data.
- Marketing / Targeting — set by our advertising partners (when you've opted in) to build a profile of your interests and show relevant ads on other sites. We currently use these only when you explicitly accept cookies.
3. Third-Party Services
The following services may set cookies or similar technologies on this site:
- Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics 4 — analytics & measurement (policy).
- PostHog — product analytics & session recordings (anonymized on rejection) (policy).
- Chatbase — embedded chat widget (policy).
- Zylvie — checkout / payment iframes (policy).
- YouTube & Pod.co — embedded video and audio players (privacy controlled by each platform).
4. Managing Your Choices
On your first visit you'll see a cookie banner where you can choose Accept or Reject. Your choice is stored locally for 365 days and applies on every page. To change your choice at any time, click the button below or the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings — most browsers let you block, delete, or be prompted before any cookie is set. Note that disabling strictly-necessary cookies may affect site functionality (e.g., you may need to re-confirm your consent on every visit).
5. GDPR — Your Rights in the EU / UK
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to pause certain types of processing.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time, where processing relies on your consent (such as analytics or marketing cookies).
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Bow Tie Kreative acts as the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Our lawful bases for processing are: (a) your consent (cookies, marketing communications); (b) performance of a contract (project deliverables, payments); and (c) legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, basic analytics).
6. CCPA — California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of your information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Bow Tie Kreative does not sell personal information.
7. PIPEDA — Canadian Residents
If you are a Canadian resident, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) provides you with rights similar to GDPR — including access, correction, and the ability to challenge our handling of your information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in our Privacy Policy and to comply with our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. Cookie consent records are retained for 365 days. Analytics events are retained for up to 26 months. Application form submissions are retained for the duration of the engagement plus 7 years for tax / legal records.
9. Children Under 16
This website is not directed to children under 16 (under 13 in the U.S.). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Cookie & GDPR Notice from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our business. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when changes were last made. Material changes will be communicated via the cookie banner.
